Top 30 that missed Forbes 50 social media influencers plus infograph

top-50The Forbes Magazine are the king of Top lists, they have build an awesome brand and a lot of research goes into its on Top Lists. They are known for the impressive lists which include The World’s Billionaires List , America’s Top Colleges ,  The Richest People in America  and  The World’s Most Powerful Celebrities. 

Earlier in the year they came up with  The Forbes top 50 social media power influences of 2013 was therefore not a surprise but the people and rankings are . While I agree the lists contain a lot of people I respect, it was actually a list of top Twitter influencers as the social media index was built around ”Twitter followers”. I have therefore followed Mark Schaefer’s cue to generate ,my own list (including his) in order to pay tribute to the workd of people I follow online.

Here’s a hot list of social media influencers that missed the Forbes list

  1. Charlene Li — Founder of the influential Altimeter Group and author of the seminal book Groundswell
  2. Avinash Kaushik — Google’s chief digital evangelist and one of the most influential bloggers on analytics.
  3. Brian Solis — Arguably the most prolific and successful social media author in the field. Runs a personal blog
  4. Mike Stelzner — Curator, Social Media Examiner
  5. Lee Odden — Leading thinker and speaker about integration of social and SEO. Author of the wonderful book Optimize.
  6. Amber Naslund — One of social media’s most influential and respected bloggers and thought leader. Co-author of The NOW Revolution
  7. David Armano — An integrated marketing thought leader, contributor to Harvard Business Review, managing director, Edelman Digital.
  8. Clay Shirky — NYU professor and for my money, the most visionary thinker in the business. Author of Here Comes Everybody and one of my favorite big think books, Cognitive Surplus
  9. Tom Webster — His Brand Savant blog packs a wallop every time, Pithy, clever, wise.
  10. Danny Brown – Intellectual provocateur; the blogger’s blogger
  11. Mark Ragan – CEO of Ragan Communications. Publisher of @PRDaily, PR Daily EU, Ragan.com, and about a million other useful publications
  12. Joe Pulizzi – Single-handedly defined the field of content marketing through his Content Marketing Institute and wildly successful conferences and books.
  13. Michael Chui – McKinsey Global Institute principal and expert in using social tools to enhance enterprise communications, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.

  15. Seth Godin — World-renowned best-selling author. Perhaps you’ve heard of him.
  16. C. C. Chapman — Incredibly insightful thinker, Co-author of the important book Content Rules
  17. Julien Smith — An observer of the social space who is painfully smart and co-author of Trust Agents
  18. John Jantsch — The man who represents the intersection of social, small business and common sense. Best-selling author of The Commitment Engine
  19. Marcus Sheridan — Passionate evangelist of social media and content marketing for business. Just got a new book deal.
  20. Jeff Dachis — A business leader and entrepreneur pushing for data-driven social marketing through the influential Dachis Group
  21. Shelly Kramer — Gutsy entrepreneur-ess and blogger who tells it like it is.
  22. Geoff Livingston — Social media, social good, deep thinker, superb blogger.
  23. Jason Falls — Pioneering social media blogger and straight-talking speaker
  24. Don Tapscott — Wise observer of our world on digital. Futurist and author of  Grown Up Digital: How the Net Generation is Changing Your World
