Wordpress in NigeriaAs a build up on the last WordPress event in Nigeria, the next event was at BinComICT solutions office in Obalende.
It was a wonderful experience as WordPress Nigeria gathered for a meet up on Tuesday 26th of November 2013, several people were in attendance at the program including people who had attended the previous meetups and new participants. Recall WordCamp has held in 2010 and we also had a WordPress@10 even earlier in the year.WordPress Nigeria is a community of WordPress users, professionals an enthusiasts who constantly keep in touch to share information, updates and offer support were necessary to one another. It was designed to offer support and share information, best practices, new techniques, tools and resources among users in Nigeria. This edition held in Obalende and had in attendance people from several parts of Lagos. Bade Adesemowo shared the opening prayer and got everyone ontroduced to one another. Deola shared a brief introduction to WordPress and its uses while Sunday showcased a wedding application. MyWed app which was developed using the WordPress framework. Bade Adesemowo also came up to talk about the WordPress community in Nigeria and how it can benefit us as a whole. The question and answer session was the most intresting as several questions about the use of WordPress, WP Security and the WordPress community in Nigeria were raised and we also discussed around growing the expertise and technical ability of the average WordPress user in Nigeria was mooted. The discussions centered around several issues and challenges as well as opportunities available for open source development in Nigeria. The event was not without the fair share of quick snacks and drinks, as participants went ahead to network and establish relationship that will help their personal and buisness interests. Particiants were happy to be present and called for more publicity and learning opportunities.

The next WordPress meet up is scheduled for February 2014, you should save the date.
