Importance of colours in branding

July 31, 2012deolaBranding, Design1 comment

Color is a critical element in the development of a brand identity. Especially at a time when communication is becoming more visual, colours communicate a lot about what a brand stands for thus the choice process needs to be aligned with the positioning of the brand in the market. In Nigeria, one of the brands to have been most successful in using colours is the GTBank. As a matter of fact, once a building is set up and the colours are a shade of Orange, the mind assumes it is owned by the bank unless further inquiry confirms otherwise. Depending on the industry and positioning of the brand, Color evokes positive associations and thus forms initial opinion/perception of the brand. This beautiful infograph explains, based on various colours, what the mind perceives about the brand.
