Happy New Year. As we left church and I drove towards home yesterday, I thought about why it would be a happy new year, if there is not a happy new you (me). The timing of the New Year was perfect for a call for a new system of thought. If you have been affected by the present realities of the events of the Global Financial Crises, if you have lost money in the crises that affected the Stock market, if people you know have been affected in the various mishaps erupting all around the place, envisioning a changed and better year might be a difficult task. Nevertheless, we must not fall into the trap of aligning our faith with it, resigning to hopelessness or even expecting more misfortunes to occur in our lives.
Have you ever wondered why people who enjoy high levels of accomplishment are continually talking to and about themselves as though they expect things to work out well… and they do? The Law of Expectations is a powerful concept that says that whatever we expect with faith (confidence) becomes our own self-fulfilling prophecy. Our expectations have a prevailing impact on the events in our lives, us attracting those events like a magnet. Our expectations influence our relationships with others, and they have powerful impact on what/whom we become.
The Law of expectation says that each human being is a living magnet, which invites and invariably attract into our lives the people and circumstance needed to accomplish our goals in life. If we need things to change, we must then expect it to be. When you commit your life to this life of faith, and the continuous improvement and helping others, it doesn’t matter where you start and there is no telling where you will end up. It doesn’t matter if you were disappointed with yourself. It doesn’t matter if you were proud of your great moments and still need to see more. Nothing ever happens except you expect it, demand it, and ultimately pursue opportunities that lead you to them.
Remember, the next 365 days is still a blank piece of paper and it is entirely up to you to fill it up with good things. What you think, you are. Happy new you!!!
